Inclusion

What we do to promote inclusion

Our site is complex and we have a wide range of children with a variety of differing needs, our goal is that all children feel welcomed and develop a strong sense of belonging to our OSHC community.  Our educators have undertaken professional development to increase our understanding of trauma informed practice and restorative practices and use this knowledge to underpin our interactions with children. We have developed a service support plan to increase inclusion and optomise child engagement.  We have been awarded as an Inclusion Aware site.  We take pride in being a cutlurally safe space for children and families.

“Aldinga OSHCers is on Kaurna Country.

The Kaurna people are the traditional custodians of the land.

We promise to care for the land, animals and waterways

We pay respects to elders: past, present and emerging”

Each day the OSHC children acknowledge that we meet on Kaurna land before sharing snack. They have researched and written their own Acknowledgement of Country, the children take pride in making sure that each day they treat the land, animals and waterways better than the day before.

Aldinga Beach OSHCers embrace the importance of a reconciliation journey and have a site Reconciliation Plan.
